As some of you may know, I am in the process of getting a new car.
I need to save up to pay for the sales tax and licensing first. And insurance, obviously.
At first, I was in a big rush to save up ASAP.
But as time has gone on, I've been a little more relaxed about it.
I drive an oldie, but a goodie, at the moment. It's done me well, but I am ready for an upgrade.
However, now that Summer is practically half over, I've been thinking of waiting for the Fall to get my car.
Not only to save up more money, but because the new 2013 models will be out, which means the other years will go down in price.
I'm only allotted to spend so much on the car, but if I wait longer, I can save up more in case there's a car that I want that's over that price range.
I'm not getting a new car by any means, but am planning on getting one that's a couple years old.
I'd like to get it as new as possible, since I want it to last that much longer. I'm not one to get a new car every couple years, but keep it until it's run it's course or I've had it for several years and am able to get another one (which both has happened for me).
And I really want to get an SUV. I'm like dead set on it. I thought about getting a sedan for the mean time, since I could afford that right now, but I really want an SUV for when we start having kids.
And it just doesn't make any sense to me to get a sedan now, but get an SUV in a couple years.
Anyway, with all that said. Here's what I'm thinking about getting!
{ Chevrolet Equinox }
{ Toyota Highlander }
{ Ford Escape }
{ Mazda CX-7 }
{ Acura MDX }
I realize that my choices are kind of all over the place. I'm really wanting to stick with Honda, Toyota, or Acura, since that's what I trust. Plus you can not beat the mileage those things can get.
My Honda Accord that I have now has over 215,000 miles on it and the thing still runs like a champ.
However, if the others are great cars, I'm not opposed to those. If any one has any experience or reviews on these, feel free to share! :)
Guess we'll see when the time arises. I'm planning on going out one day to test drive all of them to see how I feel about them. I've driven all but a couple of them already, but want to double check.
Hopefully then I can narrow down my choices. ;)

I LOVED my Escape, it was 2001. I replaced it with a 2010 Mazda CX-7 which I'm falling in love with. It definitely has zoom zoom and plenty of room.
ReplyDeleteI have an Equinox. I like it but I have to say that I had a hard time giving up my Honda CR-V. I had the 2003 model. It didn't go far, my husband has it. He needed a car and He figured that it would be best for me to get a new car and for him to take over my CR-V. This was my 2nd CR-V as my parent's took over my first one when I bought the 2nd one. I would have bought a 3rd CR-V but I needed the car last Fall. The CR-V was in high demand as is the Equinox. The only issue was that due the the earthquake and the tsunami in Japan earlier in 2011 the CR-V didn't come out in time with the new model. I must admit I have enjoyed the Equinox but I still have a pull towards the CR_V
ReplyDeleteI have a Murano & really like it. Of those, the only one that I have ridden in is the Mazda. A friend of mine has it and seems to really like it!
ReplyDeleteI had a 2007 Equinox and I loved it. It was comfy, got good mileage and was cute. You can't beat the space either, SUV's are so versatile. I now have a 2010 Nissan Rogue and although there is nothing wrong with it and I like it well enough, I miss my Equinox. Happy car hunting!
ReplyDeleteMy mom had an Escape and LOVED it. I really want a Highlinder or an MDX.. both great choices! Can't wait to see what you end up getting!
ReplyDeleteWell this is exciting!! I agree with the SUV notion. Even though we both have sedans, my husband had an Acura and I have a Mazda...we both are extremely happy with our brand choices.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree, you definitely have to test drive them to see what you like most!
I know nada about cars. Even less about SUVs but I know that getting a new car is exciting!! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any advice other than talk to your dad on what he would recommend on what you've narrowed down. :) Also, check consumer reports.
ReplyDeletehow exciting! I want a CRV.... one day
